I think being awarded Leicestershire Law Firm of the Year 2011 recognises that Douglas Wemyss Solicitors is a different law firm from most, and I suspect the award was clinched by the opening of the innovative Law Shop in Evington. This award puts our name alongside those of much larger and longer established firms and therefore shows that it is possible for a small firm to get noticed.

Winning Law Firm of the Year isn’t about being named the best firm in Leicester. It’s the culmination of three years of hard work, of doing our best to provide the best service for our clients.  The award is in recognition of all the innovative things that the firm has done, even when we thought they were crazy ideas (YouTube?!? Really??) It’s been proven that doing things differently pay off.  I’m really proud to work for a firm that is willing to take risks, to stray away from the traditional “stuffy” solicitor role and actively encourages its staff to do the same.  The award will only make us a better firm, more focused on our clients and more focused on keeping the innovation going.  There’s a huge opportunity to build on this win to make sure that Douglas Wemyss Solicitors, although small in size, is not small in scope, we’re a firm that’s boldly breaking new ground whilst never losing sight of what we are and what we do.  Whilst other firms may be quaking in their boots at the thought of “Tesco Law” this award shows that we have nothing to be frightened of and can only look to the future with excited anticipation of what’s to come.

Being named Leicestershire Law Firm of the Year 2011 is a huge achievement for the whole team here at Douglas Wemyss Solicitors. We work hard everyday to provide excellent service and value for our clients and are constantly striving to set ourselves apart from others in our industry. It is a real honor and a welcomed surprise that a firm of our size was recognized with such a coveted award.

Having the privilege of working both in business development and managing my own caseload, I have seen a marked increase in the number of clients that our firm deals with.  Often whilst networking on the firm’s behalf, I hear that other local law firms are struggling to find work and are nervous about the changes that this year will bring to the industry.  I’m proud to say that because of our proactive practices and positive attitude, we welcome what the future has to bring with open arms! 

Since working for Douglas I have seen the firm go through many positive changes. The firm itself has excelled admirably throughout my time with them.  What makes winning this award even more special is that we are not just a firm, but more like a family which makes a huge difference in being successful.  I feel optimistic and privileged to be part of a team of excellence. This award means a great deal as it just proves that working hard as a team always pays off in the best of ways. 

Although I am a recent recruit at Douglas Wemyss Solicitors, I have seen the firm go from strength to strength and I am extremely proud to be part of a team in winning this superb accolade.

The achievement implies prestige and corporate excellence for the firm and it shows the credence of the performance of its employees.

Being part of a high achieving firm is inspirational in itself. For me, the award is not only a professional gain, but it provides a platform and an inner determination to strive for excellence which motivates me to continue to contribute to the ongoing success of the firm and achieve even more greatness.

The award brings with it a great feeling of satisfaction and excitement. As the ancient Chinese proverb goes "a journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step." With this in mind, my vision for the firm is onwards and upwards because if it’s worth doing once, it's definitely worth doing many times.

Winning the award for Leicestershire Law Firm of the Year 2011 comes after three years of hard work and effort by everyone involved. This is definitely a team effort helped by a happy working environment and with the emphasis being on client care and not missing opportunities. I am delighted and feel that all the hard work has been worthwhile.  I look forward to the firm growing in recognition and reputation and winning more awards in the future!
